Project #HappyMail came to me as I went to our letterbox and picked out yet another piece of junk mail. Lost was the art of sending a card, a letter, anything that wasn’t trying to sell you something, convert your religion or prove that their pizza was, in fact the best in the area.I remembered the days I used to run home after school (no kidding, I never ran, I was a chubby kid), just to see if there was a cassette tape (if you’re under 40
google it), from my Gran and uncle in England. It was our main means of communication. Phone calls were hard to co-ordinate with a 5 hour time difference and far too costly to conduct a lengthy conversation about the minutia of everyday life. My Gran was the kind of person that would answer the phone and say, hang on, love while I put the kettle on.
I decided to take it upon myself to single handedly change the world, not really, but at least change a few people’s lives. I’m sending out cards to folks in my circle reminding them how incredible they are and how lucky I am to have them in my life. The best part is they can keep it going as each #HappyMail package has another card and a stamped envelope in that they can pass onto someone else.
I’ll be selling these #happymail packages in the new future so you can do the same thing! Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, what can you do to make the world a better place?
